ST GEORGES DAY AWARDS 2012 – BEHIND THE SCENES
Following the success of the St Georges Day Awards in 2010 and 2011, the County Commissioner and his Management Team invites you to nominate further adults to receive awards in 2012.
We all appreciate that today’s Scouting cannot be successful without a team ”Behind the Scenes” that support the Groups, Districts and County and the awards evening is about recognising them as they would not normally be eligible for a National Award.
You are all invited to nominate any adult to receive the award in one of the various categories, and any nominations should be made through your District Commissioner on the attached nomination form. We are also adding for this year, two nominations for Explorer Scout Young Leaders.
We will also be asking the County Team members for them to nominate adults that helped “Behind the Scenes” with Charnwood 2011.
The categories are as follows:-
EXECUTIVE MEMBERS
Examples: -
That long-standing executive member who has a positive impact on the Executive
An Executive member that has taken the lead on a major project, such a building/renovation project
That Executive members that has helped raise the profile of the Executive for the Group or District
CHARNWOOD 2011

The adult/leader that help to ensure the smooth set up and running of the event, but when that extra mile to assist with the organisers
OUTSTANDING YOUNG LEADER

The Young Leader that goes that extra mile to run a programme or overcomes difficulties to be a Young Leader
The Young Leader that takes a full part in the running of the section

Your nomination needs to be countersigned and approved by your District Commissioner/County Commissioner and received at the County Office by 31st March 2012. Your nomination should include aspects of the nominee’s background and the work that they have carried out to receive the award.
To aid the evening, if you have any images or quotes from other people supporting the nomination, that can be placed on a CD to accompany the nomination, as we plan to produce a multimedia presentation during the Awards Evening.
The Awards Evening will take place on 20th April 2012 at Humphrey Perkins High School, Cotes Road, Barrow Upon Soar commencing at 7.00pm. Once all of the nominations have been received, formal invites will be issued to the nominee’s and the proposers. The evening will be a formal occasion with refreshments and a bar.
Unfortunately we will have to limit the nominations to a maximum of 10 per District. During the evening we hope to have a series of guests making the presentations to the award holders.
I hope that you will be in a position to nominate members to thank them for all of their support to your Group and District or County.
Yours in Scouting
