Future of Legal Gender

We are currently looking for volunteers to reflect on their understandings and experiences of gender in everyday life.  We are recruiting a range of people who are over 18 and live in England or Wales. You will be asked to reflect on your gender experiences through a face-to-face interview with one of our research team.  The interview will aim to explore your understandings and interpretations of gender and will last for 60 to 90 minutes. For parents of young children, the interview will seek to explore both your own and your child/ren’s understandings, interpretations, and experiences of gender.

The Future of Legal Gender project is a critical law reform project aiming to explore the question of ‘legal gender’. This particular strand of the research aims to explore what legal gender status means for the general public, and whether it matters to individuals in their everyday lives. The wider project is based at King’s College London, but this strand of the research is based at Loughborough University.

We would be very grateful if you were able to circulate this amongst your networks – perhaps staff, volunteers, parents etc. Anyone who may be interested in participating, and/or would like to find out more, can contact Han Newman via flag@lboro.ac.uk with ‘Participate’ in the subject line.

Further information on the project can also be found via the web address in the below email signature.

Many thanks for your time.

County Caving Team

Have yours Scouts ever wished to live like Hobbits or see what life was like underground at the turn of the last century?

We have the answer…

The County Caving Team will be caving (Ok, it’s an old Mine but its the same principals) on the 1st December 2019 at Matlock. We will be teaching Scouts how and why the mines were used and how children were used as labour, so they get a history lesson, geology lesson and an experience that they can look back on and be proud to have achieved. The trips last between 2- 2 1/2 hours and helmets are provided

The cave is classed as a beginners trip, so is suitable for those who have never ventured underground before, and we can, if there is enough kit take some adults too (they don’t need to as there are nice cafes in Matlock). Once a beginners trip has been completed and enjoyed then further caving experiences are being arranged including a trip away, this allows a caving badge to be issued

If you are thinking Matlock is too long to travel for 1 trip, then how about combining it with a hike? there are lots of routes in the area.

Travel will need to be sorted by the attendee and even if there is only one Scout wanting to go as long as they get there we will sort them out.

The price £10.00 plus travelling

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
