Holwell Pastures New Block Opening
Iron Stone Lodge, the name revealed to the new building at Holwell Pastures Campsite, but this was no random pick, the name has to do with the historical nature of the area of which was originally an iron ore mine.
The proceedings began with fun activities around the campsite which included, Climbing, water rockets, zip line, back woods cooking, shooting and more, it was also a chance for parents from around the District to get an insight to the activities experienced by their children.
The building itself consists of four areas. A large unisex toilet and shower block, a large dormitory, which sleeps 32, with two side leaders’ rooms. A combined dining/lounge area, and a conference room for meetings and training, though for security reasons, no valuables are kept on site when not in use.
The building has also been designed to allow other local community groups to use it during the week when not in use by Scouting groups. The cost of the project was over £300,000 and Ian said he hopesit will attract more groups to use the site, with its up to date facilities.
