District Commissioner for North East District

We are now in  process of putting a Search Group together to  help us find North East’s next District Commissioner – and the search starts today!

The County Commissioner as asked Steve Dowell  to Chair the Search Group  and over the next couple of weeks, this group will be put together with adults and young people from across the District. If you would like to part of this group – then please let me know.

Full information about the role, nomination / application forms is downloadable.

These forms can be used to nominate others or self-nominate, between now and 26th March 2021

This is an important role, and a key one within the Leadership team of Leicestershire  Scouts; which is very rewarding and when shaped right, can be a huge amount of fun too!

The role of District Commissioner is a very exciting and rewarding one. In the role, you have a great opportunity to support and develop Scouting across North East  District, as the lead volunteer for the District. It’s an opportunity to put existing skills and experience to great use, with an incredible impact, and to develop new skills and experience that can be useful elsewhere in life.

The search will run until 26th March2021 and we would encourage everyone to engage in the process

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact myself

Best wishes,

Steve Dowell

Deputy County Commissioner

Mucky March

We’re really excited to announce our County Litter Picking Project, which will be open to all Sections over the next few months. We know that some Sections and Groups are not currently able to meet regularly online, and hope that this is something your Young People can get involved in without regular leader input – or alternatively, can provide some inspiration for your next Zoom meetings!

We’re aiming to help clean up Leicestershire by taking action, picking up litter and raising awareness of the issues litter creates. At the same time, we’ll be working towards Community Impact badges, as well as many other badges and the top awards for all Sections. We’ll be releasing loads more resources over the next few weeks to get involved with.

Follow Mucky March – Leicestershire Scouts

on Facebook for all of the details and updates, as well as to post pictures of what you’ve been up to on this project.

First though, we need a badge! Ask your young people to enter their badge design on the above page by Friday 5th February – full details on the attachments.

Looking forward to seeing their entries and to Leicestershire Scouts making a positive impact, on our local environment in 2021. Remember, we understand that some are unable to commit much, if any time to scouting at the present time, but we hope this will provide some support and inspiration to all those who are able to make use of it!

Weʼre raising £1,000 to raise money for the NHS and for Charlie’s local Beaver group

Charlie is now aiming to complete his marathon today at 4:30pm on Forest House Lane . To date he has raised over £2,100.00

Charlie will be finishing his marathon today (20/05/2020) at 4:30 on Forest House Lane. He runs down the length of Forest House from Warren Lane and would absolutely love it if people could come out and cheer him on and clap with him.

He ran yesterday in the heat with a friend and found it hard to run in the sun but wanted to be finished for today.

Anyone who thinks they can still donate the link is here and that would be amazing….

Your support has been fantastic and Charlie has loved reading all of your messages!

know you will all be aware of the amazing amount of money Charlie raised with his marathon run. But did you see that Tim Kidd, Chief Commissioner, had sponsored him.
All of your enthusiasm & energy has put the 92nd Group on the map – very well done.
In these difficult times you are bringing joy & smiles to many families. Xxx 🌈🌈

[16/05, 11:26] Jayne Hutchful: I looked on the Just Giving page & scrolled down to look at the supporters & Tim Kidd’s name is on there, with a photo of him wearing a necker. Xxx
[16/05, 11:32] Amy Heath – ABL: Hi. Yes he sent us a message and congratulated Charlie. He tweeted about how fantastic he’d done. He also had a well done from Paula ratcliffe, marks and Spencer’s and the Leicestershire cricket club as well as Keith lemon and mo farah, they’ve all shared Charlie’s posts with you mentioned too!

Charlie has been inspired by all the fundraising going on and clapping for the NHS each Thursday evening. He wants to do his own challenge and raise money for the NHS and also make a contribution to his local Beaver group who have been running virtual sessions for him and his friends to keep busy during the lockdown. Charlie isn‘t a big fan of running so this is a big challenge for him and he is determined to do it!
