Have yours Scouts ever wished to live like Hobbits or see what life was like underground at the turn of the last century?
We have the answer…
The County Caving Team will be caving (Ok, it’s an old Mine but its the same principals) on the 1st December 2019 at Matlock. We will be teaching Scouts how and why the mines were used and how children were used as labour, so they get a history lesson, geology lesson and an experience that they can look back on and be proud to have achieved. The trips last between 2- 2 1/2 hours and helmets are provided
The cave is classed as a beginners trip, so is suitable for those who have never ventured underground before, and we can, if there is enough kit take some adults too (they don’t need to as there are nice cafes in Matlock). Once a beginners trip has been completed and enjoyed then further caving experiences are being arranged including a trip away, this allows a caving badge to be issued
If you are thinking Matlock is too long to travel for 1 trip, then how about combining it with a hike? there are lots of routes in the area.
Travel will need to be sorted by the attendee and even if there is only one Scout wanting to go as long as they get there we will sort them out.
The price £10.00 plus travelling
