4th Melton Leaders are planning a 12 day trekking and sightseeing expedition to Nepal in October 2020, with a Nepali trekking company.

The Annapurna mountain range in central Nepal is one of the most diverse and popular trekking regions combining some of Nepal’s most iconic mountains, including fishtailed Machhapuchhare and the massive Annapurna.

This lodge-based trek offers sensational mountain views and an insight into the lives of the Nepali people. We will fly to Kathmandu and then travel to Pokhara to start the trek. We will follow the Modi Khola Valley up to Chomrong and then across to Ghorepani taking in the fantastic sunrise at Poon Hill. There will be 6 days trekking – some half days.

Then it’s back to Pokhara for the flight to Kathmandu, where we will spend 2 days exploring this vibrant city visiting Swayambhunath (monkey temple), Boudhanath, the charming shopping area of Thamel where you can test your bartering skills, a visit to the Nepal Scout Headquarters for a game of football with Nepali Scouts and an early morning flight to see Mount Everest.

The expedition is being offered to Scouts and Explorers, over 12 at time of travel. The cost is expected to be in the region of £2300 although we expect that those taking part will be able to fundraise a significant proportion themselves before the trip.

If your Scout/Explorer is interested, then please contact Howard Ball, 4th Livingstone, Melton Mowbray Scout leader, to find out more about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
