On Friday the 22nd April we held our St Georges Day Awards evening at Leicestershire Police Headquarters.
We all appreciate that today’s Scouting cannot be successful without a team of “Unsung Hero’s” behind the scenes that support the Groups, Districts and County and the awards evening was about recognising them.
We also recognised a number of adults for their achievements and commitment to their roles who had gained National Awards and outstanding long service awards.
In total we will recognised some 60 local awardees during the evening.
The awards were presented by various members of the County Team headed by our County Commissioner, Carol Black and assisted by Deputy County Commissioners, Nick Fordyce, and Lyn Rowe, Steve Dowell and of course Professor Robert Alison DL – our Vice County President.
The County Commissioner welcomed everyone to the evening by giving us an insight as to why she volunteered in Scouting and giving us a few antidotes of the fun times.
Professor Robert Alison DL, closed off the evening by congratulating all of the awardees and reminiscing us of his time in Scouting in the North.
